5 Simple tips now your website is live

Your website has just gone live – what now?

So your new website has just gone live and you’re excited! However, while most of the work has been done, that’s not where it ends!

Here are some places you might want to add or update your website link so that customers can actually find your information!

Update your social media accounts

It’s easy to forget where you’ve added your website and email address, so now is a good time to go around all your social media accounts and make sure the ‘Profile’ and ‘About’ info and any ‘Contact’ info are updated.

While you’re there you might want to put together a little post celebrating your new website and asking for feedback.

NOTE: Don’t be afraid of feedback. It’s scary but you might find there are some important changes you can make now which will really help gain more customers.

Update Google Maps (and Bing)

You know how you might have said in the past that you don’t know your mobile number because you don’t call yourself?

You probably don’t Google yourself then either – I have no idea what the verb for searching for yourself on Bing is. Binging yourself?

Even if you’re using an existing domain name, make sure your listing shows the SSL version (aka https), not just www or HTTP. This can seem like a minor change but from an SEO point of view you want these things to be correct.

Get a QR code

If you have physical premises or go to events, get a free QR code added to your business cards and signage. QR codes can be created for free using Adobe Express (at the time of writing this). Or your printer may be able to help.

Remember to keep updating your website

Do you have a book or a film that you can watch/read over and over and never get bored? Google doesn’t.

Google wants new content constantly. The more you can update your website with new words and images – especially helpful blogs like this one – the more Google will show your website in its searches.

Put a note in your calendar to add something to your website each month. If you can manage every 2 weeks or more, that will really give you a boost!

Sign up to Google Analytics

Tracking your progress is really important too, so sign up to Google Analytics and get your code installed. If you’re one of our website clients, then installing your Analytics code is free – if not your web developer may charge for this. It’s sometimes not something you can do yourself so tread with caution if you’re not a developer.
